I'll update this page occasionally with major events, but if you'd like to see what I've been up to day-to-day check out my personal blog:

Happy New Year! We're off to a good start here. Benjamin and I are tightening our spending and trying to pay off all our debt this year, not including our mortgages of course. I'm working on Crystal's wedding invitations and should have them mailed out in a week or two. I've been reading like crazy and trying to advance myself in certain areas at work. I'd really love to become the teen librarian since our library doesn't currently have one. Plus, I'm the only person that I can see who is truly interested. I'm pushing quietly by increasing visibility of my talents. For the past three years I've just been learning the ropes and doing what's expected. This year I'm determined to go above and beyond and start carving out my spot in my department. Not much else to report right now, so see ya!

I have been super duper busy lately, so here's the quick and dirty highlight session:
1) got a new used car in TX, same as old one but 3 years newer, needed many things fixed, Benjamin fixed almost everything, I'm liking it.
2) decided to sell my old car to pay for the new one, put $840 into it because it needed a few things fixed, decided to keep the car for a bit longer because I just can't see spending that kind of money on it and then turning around and selling it. besides, I like it.
3) finally transferred all our wedding gifts from TX to NY over Thanksgiving, unpacked them all and found homes for every single thing. It's very exciting.
4) I'm about to start working on my friend Crystal's wedding invitations, so wish me luck!
5) I'm so excited about Advent this year. I've never really paid much attention to it because it's never been a big part of my life in the past. I've decided to change that this year. I'm making an Advent wreath for my home and am reading daily bits of scripture and related stories that other people have written. I'm learning so much about what Christmas is really about. I've always known in a general sense, but now I'm learning the specifics.

Yesterday Benne turned 3! I love that little furball so much. Summer is drawing to a close, which means things should slow down significantly for me. I'll still be busy, but I won't be Crazy Maniac Busy! I've enjoyed getting to know my Bible study ladies this summer, and we've decided to continue meeting and discussing other books so we can get to know each other more.
Today's my staff picnic at work. I'm off today, but I'm going in anyway because I'm on the picnic committee this year. It'll be fun because my coworkers are all great people who enjoy a good laugh and know when to relax. I'm a little sad Benjamin can't join me because he's stuck in Boulder, CO; but, he'll be home soon enough and make up for time away.
Our garden is doing fairly well considering we haven't spent a whole lot of time out there. I harvested a bunch of string beans this week and ate the best cucumber I've ever tasted. I'm serious, it was that good. It was slender with few seeds and super crispy and light. I'm gonna eat another one today!
Oh sheesh, I can't believe I almost forgot about my bike! Heather gave me a bicycle, and I rode it for the first time in Syracuse yesterday evening. I love it! I went down to the church, which is only about 4 city blocks away, but that was enough to let me know I need to 1) purchase a more comfy seat and 2) not wear those silly wide legged pants I was wearing. The pant legs kept getting caught on the water bottle harness and almost tipped me right over! Boy have I got a lot to learn. Anyway, I'm pretty excited about having a bike!!

We're barely into summer here, and I'm already exhausted. This is the busiest time for me at work because the children are all out of school and looking for things to do. We try our best to accommodate.
Benjamin's on his way home from Kentucky, and we'll drive down to PA for Independence Day in the morning. I'm excited to see family and will be meeting Brandy's newest for the first time.
For those of you who aren't yet aware, Patti and Mitch are getting married this summer! I'll be posting about that later, too. I'm so happy for them.
Piano lessons are going pretty well. I don't have time to practice daily, but I try to squeeze time in when I can. Also, I'm taking over the treasurer position at church and have my work cut out for me. I hope I do well by the church and make the right financial decisions.
I'm too tired tonight to make things more cohesive, so I'm going now, but not before one last thing...
HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY KEEGITAN!!

After about 15 years of not playing at all, I've recently begun taking piano lessons again. The used spinet I bought last year is in desperate need of a good tune-up, but it does well enough for practicing, I suppose. The objective here is to advance quickly through piano lessons and move onto learning the organ so I can play at church. Our current organist is graciously giving me the lessons at no cost, excepting my weekly service after proven proficiency.

My baby sister graduated from high school tonight. I'm sure my mom's feeling a little weepy and excited. Jessica is going to start college in just a few days. I've talked her into taking a couple summer session courses to get her feet wet. I know she'll do well, and I hope she keeps her heart in the right place during this next chapter of her life.
